OIG's October 2026 Personal Services Agency Directory lists 114 agencies with addresses in the seven counties, 104 of them in Jefferson County; these are the licensed providers of non-medical home care such as help with bathing, dressing, meals and companionship.

What should I ask a Louisville home care agency?
Ask for its Kentucky personal services agency license number (and check it here), its minimum shift length and hourly rate, how it screens and trains caregivers, whether caregivers are employees, and how it covers a shift when the regular caregiver calls out.
CareScout's 2025 Kentucky median for non-medical home care is about $32.50 an hour. Medicare does not pay for this service; Kentucky's HCB waiver can pay for attendant care for eligible members, including through Participant Directed Services. Many agencies on the roster show “Pending Renewal”; that is common, but worth confirming.
