Which Louisville-area communities are licensed for memory care?
OIG's October 2026 directory lists 28 Assisted Living Community with Dementia Care (ALC-DC) licenses in the seven counties, covering 701 units in secured dementia care units; the median unit holds 24 apartments and the largest holds 60.

What does an ALC-DC license guarantee?
It guarantees OIG inspected the secured unit before licensing it and that the community must assign only dementia-trained staff to it, provide individualized activity plans and family support, and train direct care staff for 16 hours in their first 30 days and 8 hours a year after.
It does not guarantee a staffing ratio, which Kentucky does not set, or a particular price; no memory care cost median is published anywhere. See Kentucky's memory care rules.
